Song Notes
An upbeat, swinging homage to great songwriting. Bob’s improvised variations on the melody shine.
Thanks to the kind efforts of Guy Guilbert (who plays great bass on this track) and Jeff Chouinard this Bootleg Gibson recording was made available at the benefit concert for Bob in 1992. This is the only recording of this song which otherwise might have been lost.
One-stop license for Bootleg Gibson available through Wixen Music.
LYRIC
I Like Your Song
All the notes and words were lovely things to hear
Not only were you soundin’ good
I really thought I understood
The things you tried to tell me came in loud and clear
Hey, sing that song again for me
Your groovin’s really movin’ me
When you’re doin’ what you do
Spread my wings and fly with you
Just keep that music playin’
’Cause I love to hear you sayin’
Those things I’ve had on my mind for so long
And I’m only tryin’ to say, I like your song
I seem to hear new voices every day
Sometimes I don’t know quite what they’re tryin’ to say
Sometimes they’re blue and kinda sad
Rarely is there one who’s glad
Enough to let it come through when he plays
Hey, sing that song again for me
Your groovin’s really movin’ me
’Cause when you’re doin’ what you do
Spread my wings and fly with you
Just keep that music playin’
’Cause I love to hear you sayin’
Those things I’ve had on my mind for so long
And I’m only tryin’ to say I like your song
That certain song you sang it flew right in my ear
All the notes and words were lovely things to hear
Not only were you soundin’ good
I really thought I knew you would
Sing that song again to me so bright and clear
Hey, sing that song again for me
Your groovin’s really movin’ me
’Cause when you’re doin’ what you do
Spread my wings and fly with you
Just keep that music playin’
’Cause I love to hear you sayin’
Those things I’ve had on my mind for so long
And I’m only tryin’ to say
I’m only tryin’ to say
I’m only tryin’ to say I like your song
